Purpose & Intention

-게 - So that (Purpose)

-게 expresses purpose or manner, creating an intended result. It means "so that," "in a way that," or describes how an action is done.

Structure

Adjective/Verb stem + -게

Usage:

  1. Purpose: "So that [result]"
  2. Manner: "In a [adjective] way"

Basic Pattern

All Verbs and Adjectives: -게

No conjugation variations:

  • 보다 → 보게 (so that [someone] sees)
  • 듣다 → 듣게 (so that [someone] hears)
  • 좋다 → 좋게 (in a good way / so that it's good)
  • 크다 → 크게 (big / so that it's big)

Two Main Functions
